I have been thinking about the diagram in this note for a while. It dawned on me during church this Sunday that the right is how sin entered the world. Satan came and tempted Eve and she listened to his words. Genesis 3:6 states that Adam was with Eve when she sinned and instead of stepping in between her and Satan he partook as well! When God is cursing Adam and Eve, God states that Adam "listened to the voice of (his) wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat." Instead of subjecting himself to God and His Word, Adam subjected himself to his wife, who in turn had subjected herself to Satan. Adam should have stood between his wife and Satan! Adam was given the command not to eat of the tree BEFORE Eve was even created!(Gen 2:16-17). God had given His Word to Adam and with it a responsibility to uphold it, a responsibility he failed when he let Eve eat of the fruit. A husband who lets the right diagram happen is a husband who invites sin into his home. When sin enters the home then sin also enters the community, and when sin enters a community it will infest the society. Instead a husband should subject himself to the Word regularly and rely on Christ for guidance and strength in keeping Satan at bay.
