It's in a pallet sized compost bay as a cube shape. Its getting warmer here and raining now so I'm thinking I'll leave it uncovered but as it dries up I'll add some water occasionally.

Anyone making supercharged compost? I read about it yesterday so today combined my two compost piles with biochar to see what might happen. I had one pile of normal composting garden and vegie waste and the other was just animal bedding and manure. I'm excited to see what the outcome is and how quickly it might break down with all that mix of microbial life. Anyway long way to ask the question... I've never thought of using tallow in my tortilla mix. Only water salt and flour. I bet this makes a big difference to how easy they are to handle. Definitely going to give this a go.

Highlands? What are you going to use them for? I had a small herd at my last farm with plans to milk one and breed for beef. I hear they make great eating!! Their milk is higher in fat too which is great for butter and icecream.

The best thing about having a problem bird in the flock is that they need to be removed. This one is going to be shredded duck and broth after a 12 hour dry brine and roasting. Cleaning up poultry is still a new skill for me so if anyone has any tips please let me know. #homesteading #foodstr

There are things you can do while still in the city. Filter out the town water as much as possible or even switch to capturing rain water if you can. Buy food direct from farmers or at farmer's markets wherever possible. Find sunshine daily. I hope you find your farm soon.
