I’d add, it could also be another very serious hand to play. Ultimatum - get rid of every last American asset from your country or face the consequences. Terrible for innocent people, but if this is really is an existential fight for Iran, then this threat is not beyond the realm of possibility.

if water supplies are hit then this is no “managed transition” right? It may have been initially, but clearly it would have unraveled and gotten completely out of control.

They can rehearse and ritualise as much as they want, but at the end of the day the US war machine has copped it biggest loss since pearl harbour. They will be out of the Middle East, retreating to the Western Hemisphere - and israel won’t ever be the same again.
