Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about value-for-value, Nostr, and how music might evolve outside the legacy industry. My sense is that we’re going to see the old and new worlds operating side by side for a number of years, each serving different audiences, before anything fully settles into its final form. It’s probably unrealistic to expect many established legacy artists to join this space anytime soon. The reasons are many, including long-lasting contracts, increased financial uncertainty, and limited ways to reach genuine music fans. The two worlds aren’t very compatible and don’t translate well into each other. It may be far more likely to see a new class of established artists emerge entirely within the v4v universe. Their street cred would be sky-high, since it would come from genuine listener support rather than marketing budgets or corporate hype. I think we only need a handful of real success stories before things start spreading organically. Artists who are creating because they actually have something to say are probably the first ones who will get curious about this model. They are often underserved in the legacy world. People often point to the Radiohead “pay what you want” release as a successful example of direct fan support. It was an important moment, but it does not fully translate here. Today, v4v largely relies on Bitcoin, which still limits the size of the potential support. That friction will likely decrease over time. What could really accelerate adoption is the possibility for artists to earn meaningful income while reaching an audience that is actively looking for new, independent music. If that happens, it would not only strengthen v4v as a model, but also help onboard more people to Bitcoin itself. I think this is still early, and I’m curious to see where it goes. The potential for a bright future is definitely here. #grownostr #wavlake #v4v #bitcoinMusic #music #deMu #valueVerse #musicstr #stemstr #value4value #musicians #tunestr #fountain #v4vmusic
Some people mentioned both Depeche Mode and Bowie when they first heard this track. I’m not sure I can live up to that, but it’s flattering nonetheless. Check it out if you want. Composed, recorded and performed by myself. #music #nostrMusic #v4v #gothic https://wavlake.com/track/dcf44d58-723f-4b83-8bd3-fbd71a4c4a2b
Not only is this a great show by a cool guy 🔥🔥🔥, but in this episode I even got some of my music featured, which makes the whole thing extra awesome 💥🎸 Check it out and show Lightning Thrashes some love 🖤 and support ⚡
It’s definitely time for some real change, and this could very well be it. Exciting times ahead! 🙂
While Nostr may not be fully embraced as a music platform just yet, I’m excited to keep sharing new releases and see how the community evolves. The biggest challenge right now seems to be reaching a broader audience. I’d love to see the Nostr universe grow into the go-to space for social media, with RSS music and V4V becoming the top destinations for discovering, enjoying, and supporting independent music. Just to clarify, I contacted Fountain about the 500 error, not Wavlake. But yeah, a bit of persistence seems to have sorted it out. I still have an issue that some releases seems to have been pulled in with reversed track order, but I haven't bothered with that yet 🙂
Good thinking with the RSS to let the artist choose. Also cool with the upcoming addition for managing multiple artists. My experience with Fountain is different. Not slow at all. However, I noticed that your artist page (on Fountain) has the same issue as I faced initially (the 500 error page). It seems to be a Wavlake/Fountain-related problem. I reached out to their support team, and they fixed it, but the issue reappeared shortly after. I contacted them again, and they were able to identify the real cause and make a permanent fix. You might want to reach out to them too, and feel free to mention my experience if it helps. Good idea with the rebrand of the name. Sunami sounds more unique, catchy and positive. Love it.
Really nice work. This has great potentials for sure. I have a few questions if you don't mind. I don't know all that much about blossom servers. Are there any limitations when it comes to hosting these files (on the default servers)? For example, can they be deleted easily if we wish to do so? Any limitations on how much we can store? I guess the "Enable RSS feed generation" is necessary to turn on, if we want the music to appear in Fountain, V4V, and other apps, right? Do we need to submit our RSS feed manually, to be indexed, or does that happen automatically through Tsunami? Does Tsunami allow for administering more than one artist (with separate feeds)? And one final, more general, question. How does it work if an artist have one track on Wavlake and another one on Tsunami? Will that confuse apps like Fountain, or are they just added to the same artist page without a problem? Curious to learn more.

An interesting turn. This track already seems to have found a new audience beyond the usual music platforms. It’s been inspiring to watch it grow and really fun to follow along. Big thanks to everyone for the support 🙏🖤 Curious to see how far this could go against the old behemoths like Spotify, Amazon, etc. If you’re enjoying the music, there’s more to discover… and even more on the way 🎸⚡💥 https://wavlake.com/track/5084f5c7-e3be-4f0d-b44c-fc84d9e468f8 #musicstr #rock #wavlake #v4v #fountain #nostrmusic #rssmusic #valueVerse #v4vmusic #musicians
Many good points, and I think your approach is pretty solid. I have a good feeling about 2026. Like you, I’m playing the long game. I’ll definitely continue to explore and add to this space. I’m learning a lot and appreciate what you and others are doing to move the needle.
If you use Affinity 3, you can do it directly in the software. It allows you link your QR code to basically anything you want (website, email, etc). Not only is Affinity a quality product (I switched away from Adobe several years ago), but here comes the cool bonus... it's free. Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwaEbVBnvjM
I agree that it would be great if this became the preferred option for newcomers. In the end, I think it comes down to two factors. 1. The size of the potential audience. 2. The possibility of earning some income. If income is not really there, then audience size becomes the deciding factor. If income is there, then audience size matters less. I’m in a somewhat unique position. I have a long background in the legacy music world, which I chose to step away from over a decade ago by going independent, while still co-existing within the legacy space. Because I own all my music and masters, I have the freedom to make whatever decisions I want. Most of my existing supporters are still in the legacy ecosystem, so I’ll continue to maintain a presence there. At the same time, over the past few months I’ve been exploring the v4v space out of curiosity, to see whether I can find a new audience here. I’d really love to see that happen, since I never fully resonated with the old model. By doing it this way, I can follow first-hand how the old model keeps breaking down, while simultaneously being part of building whatever comes next. PS. I intend to explore the DeMu network more closely in 2026.
Music without limits. Independent by choice, rebellious by nature.
