We are to trust in God for salvation and not in princes or chariots or anything else that cannot save. Trust more broadly—a reasoned belief in the reliability or truthfulness of a person or thing—is essential for all areas of life. Civilization requires high trust societies and those societies include trustworthy neighborhoods, institutions, systems, etc. As for bitcoin, one can trust in the immutability and integrity of the network because one can verify it. That is, in some sense, the irony of the "don't trust, verify" slogan. It rejects blind trust, which is proper. But real trust happens when one is confident in the reliability of a thing, and confidence occurs through verification. So in other words, we CAN trust bitcoin is a sound and reliable monetary network because we CAN verify it for ourselves. And this trust is not in contradiction with the Scriptures. Ehat contradicts and violates Scripture is when a man pits his trust in bitcoin for salvation. And there are people that indeed do that. But that isn't a problem of trust in general, it is a problem of idolatry in particular.

Is forgiveness merely a personal and internal act disconnected from repentance? Does God forgive unrepentant sinners? Genuine questions.

Including the entire modern era.

This post was supposed to be a response in a thread and not a new note. I hit the wrong button and now feel like a boomer when they used to make mistakes like this on Facebook. Anyway,

If Tyler Robinson repents—and I genuinely pray he does—Charlie's family and friends can and should forgive him. We all should. And then he should be executed. This would be both true mercy and true justice rightly applied. #ToChristAlone

The individuals who did the murdering are distinctly responsible for their actions, yes. And what worldview were those individuals shaped by? One of woke, progressivist, Marxist, godless ideology. A worldview that frames man like Kirk as a fascist Nazi pig deserving of death. A worldview that celebrates such a man's assassination as not only justified but morally and politically necessary. This is a worldview shared by a majority of those on the political and cultural Left wing. I understand that a lot of folks on Nostr are anarcho libertarian types who exalt individualism and reject the left/right frame. I won't make assumptions about where you are. But I will say that reality is comprised of more than just individualism. Left and right are not always helpful categories but in instances like this are appropriate because individuals don't act in a vacuum. The Left is comprised of people who by their own volitions enjoin themselves to a particular collective set of dogmas, rituals, liturgies, and beliefs. Theirs is a culture of death. And you know them by their fruit.

Then those within who are responsible should also repent, be forgiven, and be executed. But even outside any involvement they may have here, I would be happy to see the entire org shuttered for the countless other godless and illicit acts of wickedness and corruption they have been engaged in for decades.

I want the perpetrator(s) to repent and then to be executed. I am making the point that if the perpetrator repents he must be forgiven. And I am making the point that forgiveness of sin does not absolve a man from facing earthly justice, so he should also be executed for his crime. If Tyler is innocent, he should not be executed. Right now with the evidence and information I have seen, and taking into account content I have seen online from people who are proposing counter narratives, Tyler appears to me to be the perpetrator. I am not convinced, however, that he acted alone. I also recognize that there are things that don't make sense yet or don't add up yet, like the supposed text thread. But there are other ways to make sense of things like that ridiculous text thread than to come to the conclusion that Tyler did not pull the trigger. Once again, my larger point is about the nature of mercy and justice.

Right. A heresy that denies the second coming, the resurrection of the dead, and final judgment. Remarkable to me how some otherwise brilliant and faithful scholars and pastors have fallen into this ditch. I was fairly certain you do not hold to this view. Glad to confirm it.

I cannot say how long it will last. Lord willing it is a major stepping stone to reformation and revival. All I can do is pray while I labor for the Kingdom in my small corner of the world.

You are assuming that I haven't weighed or examined things and have simply taken the word of politicians and media. But I'm not that interested in making some major case here to convince you of anything. Take what you would like from my post and leave the rest.

Scratch that. Confused Robinson with another one of the guys some online sleuths were suspecting.

Kirk was the highest profile Christian to be martyred in our lifetime. And it was evil. Yet, as God loves to do, he is bearing much fruit through it. Many reports of people returning to church, students being emboldened in their patriotism and commitment to true American principles, and TPUSA being flooded with donations and applications. May Christ raise up a generation faithful, bold, courageous, righteous, and patriotic men and women. And may Kirk's legacy live on in them. The blood of martyrs makes fertile soil. #ToChristAlone #CharlieKirk

Until we have more than speculation about other players, including people on the internet yelling "joooos!!", I'm going with Tyler Robinson. I am not opposed to believing there is more to the story but in the meantime my point is about mercy, forgiveness, and justice.

Despite it being a dead end, it was plausible and did prove to be quite bizarre.

In other words, it is imperative for the Christian to assume the disposition of being willing to forgive. Even desirous to have the opportunity to forgive. But we cannot truly forgive without repentance. I diverge with Sproul here only in his example of Christ on the cross. Jesus is not pronouncing forgiveness here. He is making an appeal to the Father for those who are murdering him. Christ doesn't forgive us without repentance because to do so would be an affront to his justice since forgiveness is another way of saying 'pardon'. It is a legal reality. Christ dies, His Sprit brings a sinner to repentance, and then God legally pardons the sinner having made propitiation for the sin on the Cross. So it follows that, on a human level, we are to model Christ in this and not make forgiveness a merely intetnal therapeutic act of letting go and letting God.

God gives the civil magistrate the sword to deter sin, yes, but it is an extension of his rod of justice.
