My stance comes primarily from the fact that not everyone tries to normalize their mental illness, or even express how "proud" of it they are, among other disgusting things (dark fedi/pediverse will legitimately drive you to want to kill); the focus should be on those that AREN'T like that, while also still acknowledging that there are a frighteningly sizable amount of people that you shouldn't hesitate to kill on sight, if necessary for the safety of children. I only disagree in the fact that there SHOULD be compassion... for those who haven't committed any crime beyond simply being burdened with the paraphilia to be able to discuss that fact without having their lives ruined under the pretense that THEY'RE a predator; even to some extent, those who have committed non-physical crimes, and aren't continuing to, should be afforded some room to confess to prior wrongdoing and genuinely repent.
