Traveling through Central America and I'm surprised at how "hyped" their alleged use is. Even in places like El Salvador and Costa Rica it's only accepted in few niche places. Need to see how the Square integration is going in the States. So far only Steak and Shake consistently accept it.

Aren't most apps just PWAs in an app wrapper. Some of the apps I use are literally Safari without the address bar to the point that my ad blocker still blocks half the stuff in it when I load it.

You just haven’t noticed it before. Google refuses to allow a proper generic carrier support for some reason. Maybe so they don’t get sued by whatever countries version of the FCC. For example +Movil in Panama, Liberty in CR, Tigo in Guatemala. None of them work aside from basic LTE. No VoLTE nothing.

My Pixel nerfs itself whenever I cross the border into an unsupported country. Stuff just stops working like Wifi Calling whenever you add a local SIM (and yes the bands are supported). I have to use Pixel IMS just to enable basic stuff. Also forget about 5G (same scénario with the bands). Google will not enable stuff because it's not in their list of carriers. Not an issue with Samsung.

I have Android and iOS. There's some things both do better than the other. However iOS is the best when it comes to support, UI, and overall ecosystem. For example Gboard on Android is unmatched. I also prefer Amethyst over other Nostr apps. The rest of the apps look like early 2000s flash apps. iOS has better apps. Seamless syncing between other apple devices. Files integration for a lot of apps. And lastly Safari has a ton of really useful extensions.
