My opposition *is* based on technical merits. OP_IF is way too fundamental even in a stack based language like Script. Removing that cripples the language and people will lose money because of that.

My biggest issue with the BIP is that it cripples the language by removing OP_IF. Also, I don't expect significant gains in spam protection because you cannot prevent fake pubkeys.
