48 years on, R.S. MacDonald celebrates the great “Abercairney Tom” once again with “Abercairney Tom” Rarer still is when a synonymous tune results not only in a nickname, but is commemorated with a tune by a world-class composer https://www.pipesdrums.com/article/48-years-on-r-s-macdonald-celebrates-the-great-abercairney-tom-once-again-with-abercairney-tom/ #abercairneytom #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

A ceòl mòr master in full command of his music: “Lament for the Viscount of Dundee,” by Colin MacLellan No matter the prizes, you’ve really made it as a piper when a tune becomes synonymous with your name. For at least 30 years, “Lament for the Viscount of Dundee” has been part of Colin MacLellan’s identity as a piper. Actually, it might go back further, to 1982, when he […] https://www.pipesdrums.com/article/a-ceol-mor-master-in-full-command-of-his-music-lament-for-the-viscount-of-dundee-by-colin-maclellan/ #colinmaclellan #dundee #actually #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Matt MacIsaac on his new collection, the composing process, and some advice for creators The publication of The MacIsaac Collection – Volume 1 was an ideal time to check in with him, not only about the book, but also about his composing process. It's food for thought for any creative piper or pipe band drummer hoping to try their hand at composing, or ready to take a different approach to making original music. https://www.pipesdrums.com/article/matt-macisaac-on-his-new-collection-the-composing-process-and-some-advice-for-creators/ #composingprocess #mattmacisaac #macisaaccollection #volume #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit
