Big plus of wasting time at Carleton: 1) we ate some awesome poutine at The Great Canadian Poutine Company in Ottawa on Bank St. 2) we went to Costco in Gatineau where Boreale and Coronas were $36 for 24 and 28 respectively. Also scored some good wines for less than $15/bottle. 3) went to a great Pattiserie and scored croissants (plain and chocolate). You just can't get good croissants in Ontario.

I'll say this... Three years ago we were touring for my eldest and EVERY school was Trudeau woke virtue signalling with Land Acknowledgements and progressive rainbows/DEI fully on display (except for up north at Laurentian in Sudbury). All that stuff is gone these tours.

Just attended a tour and intro to Carleton University in Ottawa. The field my son is interested in is embedded in a completely unrelated faculty that appears to just be a stream of wannabe bureaucrats and govt teat suckers. They boasted how tied to the govt they were, how they got various Liberal current and former ministers, and how they could get the prospective students jobs in other globalist regimes. I feel dirty. My son just wants to bust crooks. This place clearly wants to indoctrinate the upholding and expansion of top down thievery. A woman (parent) just asked the presenter "How he would describe the faculty's culture" and while that surely a broad, open ended question the answer was given as a stumbling and rambling authoritarian word salad of meaninglessness. Now several other officials are chiming in. It's as if they're trying to address everything but what I suspect the original question was seeking to get. Update: I asked the woman and it was confirmed that she was seeking to be reassured of an openess of political leanings and not just a left wing bias.
