Tell her it's the billionaires Mark Zuck and his crew tracking their activities (which is partially true) and she should delete FB.

Well... Then you'd be Amish or Mennonite. There are lots of "citadels" that act exactly on this principle. Wonder if any use ₿ on the sly.

I don't mind quality over quantity and I sure as heck don't follow 14k people.

It cracks me up that Canada is now talking about controlling "under 16" access to social media. Even "conservative" political leaders. Now, the counter arguments are all the same: - parents should be the ones doing that. ... And that's about it. And that's true, BUT how many of the counter arguments makers actually have kids? Yeah, none. Or they're lying. Or they're reminiscing about a time before pocket computers and just that one desktop in the corner. Here's the thing (coming from a parent): - kids take cues from parents. In everything you do. If you're on your phone, so are they. - kids take cues from their peers. If they're on phones, they want to be a part of it. - kids don't call. They don't text. They snap. Endlessly snap. Unless... Idle hands are the devil's play things. Keep your kids active, whatever activity thrills them, and they will stay out of trouble. (Huh... That's the same argument made to counter youth violence and inner city turmoil). For my son that's working out and playing sports or working his part time job. And with regards to working out... He got into that because of social media influencers. Counter to all this "control" is that kids are naturally curious and will find a way to break whatever unacceptable rules/laws/limits you put on them. You did the same. So did your parents. So, can we pleaseaybe focus on fixing the money and the economy so we can fix the family and not worry about information access control, erm social media limitations?

You can do both. You can be the day walker... Or the Steppenwolf (I kinda prefer that term but then I'm getting all literary on ya). You can opt out while presenting an ambiguous facade. I stacked, posted on Nostr, hardened my privacy, drank wine, ate charcuterie, and watched the ball game today (also going to the Jays Dodgers game in a week). You can participate in the evolution without leading a revolution and the best way is to raise the next generation stronger and more resilient.

There are so many stupid dating shows. Wife and I got sucked in to the latest one on Netflix where they ultimately reveal their obviously massive age difference... This got me thinking. We have Love is Blind, Age of Love, Love on the Spectrum, Whore Island... but no Driven to Love. My idea: Couples date by driving. Good drivers, bad drivers, traffic, reacting to others/rage, near misses, weather, back seat driving, patience... it could have it all! Anyone got a Netflix connection to pitch this "no more inane than the others" idea?

Happily running Mullvad now and chose them as they accept lightning payments. Will ultimately be moving toward GrapheneOS and degoogling everything but one doesn't necessarily throw away good hardware before its time so that will probably be next year (waiting to see what Motorola drops).

I'm sorry... A mining Air Conditioner? I've been researching and trying to figure out how that would be possible forever. Got details?

The one on Netflix? I saw that one. It was enlightening to me as I, a man, had NO idea who any of the people were (no, the biggies like Tate weren't in it) BUT my teenage son did. He was telling me that they had mostly fallen off or disappeared. Mind you, he's also got an active father in his life, plays sports hits the gym does well in school, and is popular with the girls so Manosphere stuff isn't really targeting him as he has confidence.

Right now barely qualifies as winter. Ask Isa. She was here during winter... Real winter... Questioning decisions winter.

The term "expensive" is misunderstood by most. They consider it to mean a high nominal figure. They don't consider the real meaning. If something is "expensive" it is that they have found an acceptable (to them) alternative at a lower cost. "Cost" can be broken down to financial, quality, or opportunity. Examples of where cost is no object for me: food. No processed crap in this house. Small batch/not industrial or homemade from scratch. Be it the charcuterie we assemble to go with our wine or the burgers with the craft beer. Examples where IDGAF: big fan of the classic BIC pen.

Nope! I ain't running one. It's a virus and /Matt Hill of Start9 have been trying to warn people they're inviting disaster with the privacy leakage out of it. They're also both actively working on sovereign solutions.
