Bebe Courtesy of insomnia, I've put together this 1:144 scale model of a Nieuport 11 Bebe. Another scout for the Entente to put up against those blasted Fokkers. This little sesquiplane went into service on the French front in January, 1916. It outclassed its main opponent, the Fokker E-III monoplane, in every respect: speed, climb, agility and strength. The French did not, at that time, have an interruptor system for the gun, so it carried a single Lewis gun high on it's top wing, to fire over the propeller. By March 1916, it was being replaced by the Nieuport 16 with a more powerful engine, and the much improved Nieuport 17. It, and all of its successors, went into service with all of the Entente powers of WW1. This model is designed at 1:144 scale, with tolerances suitable for FDM printing, though of course it can also be printed in resin. It includes a 2.6mm diameter socket in its belly for a flight stand. Aichi D3 "Val" (1:144) This is the last of my 1:144 scale WWII Japanese aircraft models, this time one that I built myself in Blender, the Aich D3 "Val" dive-bomber. I think it unlikely that I'll be doing any more Japanese aeroplanes, as I have no plans for building a Japanese wargames army any time in the foreseeable future. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/aichi-d3-val-1144.html #val #japanese #blender #wwii #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Blender Doodling I'm using my 1:144 Halberstadt D-II model to fiddle with generating disruptive pattern textures in Blender. There's an enormous amount you can do with the node shading system, but I am the merest beginner when it comes to texturing objects in Blender. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/blender-doodling.html #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Sopwith Salamander I have a lot to do today, so instead, I put together this Sopwith Salamander. It was based on the Snipe, and I foolishly thought, as ever, that since 'd already done a Snipe it would be no trouble at all. And as usual, there turned out to be a lot more work in it than I'd expected. The Salamander was a British WW1 armoured ground-attack specialist, intended to support the great assaults planned for 1919. However, though a large order was placed for them, only two ever made it to the front before the Armistice. I've always fancied a model of the Salamander, because it was used as a test-bed for a new (to Britain) multi-colour disruptive paint scheme, which is a bit fancier than their usual all-over PC10 brown. Then, with the Great War over, they went and forgot all about it. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/sopwith-salamander.html #sopwithsalamander #snipe #great #british #armistice #war #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

More PoD Booty Some more print-on-demand booty from DriveThruRPG arrived for me today. All AD&D2e stuff: a couple of Planescape books, a book of mapped and described city locations, and Chris Pramas' Guide to Hell, which is sure to come in useful. This lot wiped out my PayPal credit that I've been in the habit of using to support my various hobbies, and now that wargiming3d.com isn't paying via PayPal any more, it's unlikely to revive any time soon. It's a pity, as it made things very convenient, but enshittification is, it seems, an unstoppable juggernaut. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/more-pod-booty.html #booty #pod #hell #paypal #chris #guide #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Zero This is a Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter of WWII, in 1:144 scale, FDM printed on my old Ender 3. It's a very simple model with virtually no surface detail at all, and I don't recall who designed it or where I got it. It was some considerable time ago. I have no immediate use for it, as I haven't built any armies for the Pacific at all, though I do have some US Marines in 15mm sitting somewhere waiting to be painted. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/zero.html #zero #japanesemitsubishi #ender #fdm #wwii #marines #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Beaufighter I managed, at long last, to finish off the painting of this Bristol Beaufighter I printed ages and ages ago. It's intended to support my 15mm North African Brits, assuming I actually get a game or two with them one of these days. The model is 1:144 scale, up-scaled from one of Plane Printer's excellent 1:200 designs. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/beaufighter.html #beaufighter #africanbrits #northafrican #bristolbeaufighter #planeprinter #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Aeroplane Display Board (again) I've made another display board for my little aeroplanes, mostly WWII stuff this time, though there's a bit of WW1 overflow as well. This one is intended as a wall display, hanging from a picture hook. I've included some unpainted models on this one, in the hope that embarrassment and shame will spur me into getting them done. There is still space for a few more models, if and when they come along, but not too many more. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/aeroplane-display-board-again.html #displayboard #aeroplanedisplay #wwii #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Hawker Hart Update I've updated the 1:144 model of the Hawker Hart that I built quite some time ago, and added some wing rib detail and a flight stand socket. The updated model can be had at https://www.wargaming3d.com/product/hawker-hart-light-bomber http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/hawker-hart-update.html #hawkerhart #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit

Lozenge Stencil Painting lozenge pattern disruptive fabric in 1:144 scale isn't actually all that difficult. The trickiest part is getting the size and spacing of the first colour of the array right; once that's sorted, the rest of the painting is just a question of putting blobs of the appropriate colour in relation to blobs that are already there. I've 3d printed this airbrush stencil I made of the gold lozenges in the array (I use Vallejo Middlestone for this). I built it in Blender using an SVG I made in CorelDraw from a bitmap of the whole lozenge pattern, and then scaled it to roughly 1:144 scale. It would be better if it was more translucent, as placement has to go more or less by guess with an opaque stencil. However, it seems to have worked well enough as a proof-of-concept. I'd like to try a laser-cut version, maybe in something like tracing parchment with a sticky backing. http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2026/10/lozenge-stencil.html #stencil #vallejomiddlestone #svg #rss #feeds #linksharing #qwibbit
