of course, no one needs convincing, it's just money, people just want to use money, as the market shows
>no I will NEVER be based
people liked my old nostrudel fork because it just had a button that showed the address in a qr code, also had a "pay in wallet" because the bip21 auto-fills to send, then it's a plain tip button without the zap event and just opens the preferred wallet that accepts that URI scheme at the right place, things like this just get the address from bio "closer" to usage, without any advanced integration needed from the developer, which would work for btc onchain or alts too but yeah not an actual integration, I'm remaking my client but will still use the simple idea, but this simple idea is enough for people to love it X users keep bugging platforms like odysee to do something like this and then it's an "integration", but to advance on a monero integration it could use payment IDs, or use the viewkey to generate subaddresses, then per event on send you know which event of yours got tipped, then from viewkey usage maybe a proper zap event could be created by using receipt proofs, etc, some people already experiment on this today
time to go crazy. fuk it enable monero on damus. the cypherpunk beast inside is calling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mjlM_RnsVE

it's centralized both in development and mining (https://miningpoolstats.stream/zcash), zcash launched with a 20% dev tax, every time it pumps it enriches those that skimmed coins to themselves, then they dump it all on the market the "scam" may have funded the "promising tech", but unless you like getting poor buying zcash is not the best approach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zcash in counterpart monero is not a scam because everyone that gets monero only issues it fairly via mining, competing with everyone else in the same game, and it does not have a corporate structure and anyone can mine or develop for monero at any time, it may not evolve as fast or produce cutting edge tech, but it manages to deploy what already works best for a private blockchain without any leadership direction
if using LN doesn't work, it's YOUR FAULT! for not using monero instead
but if you want an actual answer probably there's an advanced way where you get a following.space list event and pipe all npub tags into a mute event, using nak, jq and awk or just ask AI to make the command
True for now we're always just a swap away from sending in whatever to whoever, the problem is always the reverse, if I take only XMR and you want to swap in pay using BTC, your coins can be immediately frozen at the swap level, but XMR users are always safe from this so taking XMR directly is more for the signal or if you want to hold XMR yourself because otherwise it is only strictly necessary if this swap bridge is closed but if the merchant is lightning only there's very little liquidity for swaps so this option is not always reliable in that case
they should charge in bitcoin or monero, if they make it easy that means anyone can admin large groups, and they make even more revenue, if it's hard and a PITA there will be only a few large groups with reddit-like moderators
there is usd based ecash too, see: https://github.com/MakePrisms/boardwalkcash-deprecated according to the gh link: > certificate issued to the user, based on the rules agreed with the software vendor. > certificate is used as a micro-payment for infrastructure resource (it cannot be transferred to any other user without risks of double spend). > certificate can only be voided by software vendor (or delegate who issued it), so it cannot be used directly as a payment. they are basically describing ecash, their whole use case is ecash, which is nothing more than issuing a certificate or web token for a payment, and it can be done using monero as payment too using an "NFT" for a voucher instead just makes it worse, less private, keeps it on the blockchain forever, requires another blockchain, which will definitely not have privacy by default, requires the purchase, usage, download of wallet software, of another token, has extremely worse ux, all that adds a lot more friction, all just to issue an online voucher... which is a solved problem already...
yeah the wording and delivery is very off, but if they want vouchers they can also use something based off ecash/cashu and x-402 to restrict access, then a server provides a service for the "voucher", and ta-dah, no overcomplicating, but he keeps tapping on the "zkEVM" sign for some reason I'm not sure where he wants to get with this the main issue with this is how him, or "the team" will now have to diverge focus to build this, and then after the complexity is added everyone will have to carry that burden when wanting to fork, self-host, develop, use the app, etc. simplicity is always key, and at this rate SX will be forever a niche
what... the... fuck.... I did not expect this, now is the time to focus on a proper protocol I suggest taking a look at so far all private messaging apps failed, and they did not integrate bitcoin or monero but went ahead with their own tokens smh (session -> oxen, signal -> mobilecoin, telegram -> TON, simpleX -> SIMPX) we almost got Molly, the signal fork, but they ditched the Monero integration and used the monero bounty only to fund themselves something built on nostr, and with bitcoin and monero (real money) integrated has a much better chance of succeeding Cheers simpleX ✌ another one bites the dust
I wouldn't say so, litecoin markets itself as "the silver to bitcoin's gold" for being lighter cheaper faster etc, it did add a "privacy layer" called mweb but it works better for scaling than privacy, there is still a tx graph that can be observed and archived, etc, but that aside it's still in all major exchanges and hasn't been targeted for its "privacy capabilites" cause it's not that good, kinda like bitcoin's LN, it is a "privacy layer" but also doesn't make it a privacy coin
a. nothing changed on bitcoin, and if it still doesn't have privacy by default is it a "what" coin? b. fake marketing is not the same as a "no difference", if bitcoin was a privacy coin the name privacy coin wouldn't exist and all of them would be, selling a privacy coin as a privacy coin would be like selling water but with the taste of water, but then you can fake market other things like scale, speed, etc
how can they use this as marketing if bitcoin already has it
