Not failed, just unable to conduct transaction. First time, employee did not understand. The second time I did not have a loaded Lightning wallet and did not wish to wait for confirmations. Regarding stepping up our game, I agree 100%. To all 'bankless' crypto enthusiasts, Spend it! If you acquire at 1% - 10% if your net, you need to spend 1% - 10% of that. Peruse Craigslist (I'm fucking serious!) with the 'Cryptocurrency OK' button checked and find something to spend on. Going through the action of spending crypto is a rough game, and as simple as we know it can be, it simply isn't in every case. The community needs practice! Patience is important, but in spite of your faith in crypto, akways bring cash just in case there is an issue. In my experience, the most annoying issue is sending coin to the sellers custodial wallet which won't see a transaction until 1 conf. Be strong! We are all in this together! So no to tribalism!
I only have anecdotes for Square's bitcoin. Of three vendors who use Square, one accepted Bitcoin before March 30, the date Square made it default. I tried twice to spend BTC there, once before March 30 and once after. Neither time was a transaction abke to be made. Of the other two vendors, they both opted to disable the capability. Why? The answer from one of the two, "I don't believe in that". When asked doesn't it save on transaction fees he laughed and saidit costs him 6%. I have no proof of the 6%, and wasn't about to ask another question. I personally doubt 6% is the case, but I will be finding out what the real deal is.

I'm not going to judge whether you are right or wrong, but for some businesses running & maintaining their own servers is time they are not focussing on their business. I know I like to use Bitrequest for onboarding businesses because it can be set up on an old cel phone in just a few minutes, and it's 100% self-custodial (except maybe Lightning).
