So my issue has been that I hate ads, and I would have a YouTube subscription to avoid them. That is difficult to get without doxing myself. Does the Private DNS help with the ability to watch YouTube without an account and without seeing ads? Does it help with using NewPipe or PipePipe? Thanks

Web Of Trust is important here, because it handles one of the major problems in freedom tech, which is how to deal with bad actors. In short, do you want to host a server if someone is going to throw csam up on your server? For most people, the answer is no. But if instead the server you plug in automatically white-lists people you follo, I think that could be a big unlock.  And many people would host just for supporting their community, not necessarilly for the sats. That is where I am at.

Hosting compute is clearly one of the most profitable businesses in the world right now. Can we can channel more of those profits into decentralized hosting networks?

I think that for any sort of serious cold storage, you should be flipping coins or rolling dice. Not sure you could ever be comfortable otherwise.
