Ḥassān b. Thābit (d. before 661): طَلَبَتْ فُؤَادَكَ فِي الْمَنَامِ خَرِيدَةٌ تَشْفِي الضَّجِيعَ بِبَارِدٍ بَسَّامِ كَالْمِسْكِ تَخْلِطُهُ بِمَاءِ سَحَابَةٍ أَوْ عَاتِقٍ كَدَمِ الذَّبِيحِ مُدَامِ ṭalabat fuʾādaka fī l-manāmi kharīdatun tashfī l-ḍajīʿa bi-bāridin bassāmi ka-l-miski takhliṭuhu bi-māʾi saḥābatin aw ʿātiqin ka-dami l-dhabīḥi mudāmi A virgin fair came seeking your heart in dreams; she heals her lover with a smile both cool and bright, like musk mingled with the waters of a rain-cloud, or ancient wine, red as the blood of sacrifice.
