Change is difficult ⦠Far more difficult than implementing change is figuring out what works, understanding why it works, grasping when to change, and knowing when not to. Jim Collins - Great by Choice
"The result is to compel localized solutions and distributed architectures. Machine intelligence faces the same constraints that force distribution of human intelligence. The human mind doesnāt agglomerate in data centers. It is localized and dispersed in billions of minds around the globe. The new AI and machine learning movement is only the latest force to deny this reality." ā George Gilder
James mentioned that only Bitcoiners that were able to defend themselves were those second amendment Americans. Does that mean the rest of us is screwed.
A business which produces a product that the public will not buy in a sufficient quantity, or at a high enough price to cover production costs, will have its ideas validatedāin this case invalidatedāin a swift and painful process which must be heeded quickly before bankruptcy sets in. Knowledge and Decision by Thomas Sowell
I never repost. I comment, zap and like. Repost just feels like parroting
Read this today and was thinking about your post and what you were trying to highlight. āEven within democratic nations, the locus of decision making has drifted away from the individual, the family, and voluntary associations of various sorts, and toward government. And within government, it has moved away from elected officials subject to voter feedback, and toward more insulated governmental institutions, such as bureaucracies and the appointed judiciary.ā Knowledge and Decision by Thomas Sowell
From my notes of Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell... Economic decisions are ultimately being directed or controlled by those who have specific knowledge in a price-coordinated economy, while those decisions move in the opposite direction ā from those with less knowledge, who are giving orders to those with more knowledge ā in a centrally planned economy. The difference is fundamental and profound in its implications for the material well-being of the population at large.
It is way better for the Children and for both parents, but not only that. It is better for civilization. As George Gilder argue in 'Men and Marriage'. "In creating civilization, women transform male lust into love; channel male wanderlust into jobs, homes, and families; link men to specific children; rear children into citizens; change hunters into fathers; divert male will to power into a drive to create."
The export of those countries is labor, since their birth rate exceeds their ability to provide enough jobs. This was pointed out by John Vorster, Prime Minister of South Africa during apartheid. He also lamented the fact that he could not keep the people out of apartheid South Africa even though they had the political will to do so. Europe has little willpower to keep them out. āTo Live and let Liveā is Christian and not Islamic. They see the world through Dar al-Islam, peace under Islamic rule and Dar al-Harb, war on non-Islamic lands. I donāt see any reason for them to stop the colonization of other countries. With their conquest of the old Christian world, they have proven that they can fully capture and subdue.
Seems like they are accelerating their purchasing.
Seems like you can do a temporarily install an application and have it deleted after a set amount of time.
70MB usage is impressive.
Each edition should have a theme.
Man he is still publishing ;)
To me one sat is āæ 0.00000001. But I am not against moving to sat denominated way of writing. One bitcoin is then written as (sat symbol)100,000,000. If only we had a different symbol for SATs. Like āSā with two stripes through it, but will probably look too much like a $ sign. As you say that could be confusing. Newbies will probably get confused if we use the bitcoin symbol interchangeably. So if we are to use it for sats it should be fully adopted.
I was dreaming this week that I was starting a Bank for Bitcoiners. So now I am investigating starting a state Bank for Bitcoiners in Wyoming as a Special Purpose Depository Institution (SPDI). A SPDI does not rehypothecate your money so you do not need to be FDIC insured. Since you hold 100% of the deposits you also do not need a FED Master Account, which may give you more autonomy over the bank. The only suppervisor you have to deal with is the Wyoming Banking Division, which requires a yearly SPDI Call Report. Wyoming already has many good laws in favor of you holding Bitcoin and recognizes Bitcoin as property. So it gets all the protection of property law and a the purpose of the SPDI is to hold custody of USD and BTC (digital assets). This Bitcoin bank can build deep integration into the Bitcoin ecosystem, such as Lightning, Fedimint, ARK, NOSTR Wallet Connect, Bitcoin Lending providers, self-custody etc. This bank will not be for those that can opt-out fully of the banking system, but for those that still need to hook into the old USD rails. And since shareholders will be Bitcoiners, we can make sure you do not get debanked for expressing your freedom of speech or for being a Bitcoin maxi. The starting capital will be a minimum of $5million, but may be more. As long as you keep the shareholder number below 2,000 you do not have to deal with the SEC. Sorry for dumping this here, but this debanking has been bothering me, since we still have to live until eventually we live in a Bitcoin standard.
One thing he didn't mention is that you can get debanked since the bank is scared of the 'reputation damage' if people find out you are banking certain people. An example is Trump being debanked by Capital One, JP Morgan and Bank of America purely because they thought the tide was against him and that they would incur 'reputation damage' if it became known that they banked him. This is something that is happening in the EU also. A dutch flower trader exporting flowers to Russia were debanked by ING & Rabobank because his customers were Russian. And if you are debanked then you are a higher risk and struggle to get any bank to open a bank account with. The courts in the Netherlands even ruled that if a bank feel (yes feel) they will suffer reputation damage then they can close your bank account WITHOUT YOU HAVING DONE ANYTHING WRONG.
Wonder if this can be used in onboarding new users.
