Banks and everyone else is in the process of upgrading. Banks won't be hacked, however for Bitcoin if we don't start the work now, it may be too late.
It will have its impact, but nothing compared to Bitcoin because decentralised protocols require more time to upgrade, and signature size impacts Bitcoin a lot more.
It could be the 12 Jan but this could be the prelim challenge.
Responses like Mike's don't address time preference for spending, and the fact we all die eventually and can't spend our money from the grave, thus in the extreme case there comes a time where we spend, even thou our goods will be cheaper in the future. Also on investment side, more people saving means less consuming of goods and services, thus frees real resources up for use in investing in future consumer goods.
Superposition is just as real as the energy that goes into hashing a new block.
They did consider it, but seen all address types vulnerable due to short range attacks.
