Yes. However trying to change consensus rules without broad agreement is not a good thing either even if the change itself is positive - I agree with Giacomo here. It must be very hard to change consensus. IMO we should convince people / nodes to change their relay policy back to 80 cap on op_return and to solo mine with ocean defining their own block (at a cost in terms of expected profit and loss) as decentralized mining is very important too.

How is capping arbitrary data a “technical argument” that can be judged by “technical judgement” rather than a philosophical position on what bitcoin is and what it should optimise for? Deciding about this is much more about “should we take the risk of jeopardizing Bitcoin as money for its potential use as data storage” than anything technical.
