So many people don’t realize that many small, medium businesses or orgs and many, many people have been self-sovereign all along. Never trusted the cloud. Not gonna store any of their information on someone else’s servers let alone Amazon/Google/Microsoft’s. Kept data and servers on-prem. Didn’t think of it as cypherpunk or self-sovereign or any kind of ideology rather than self-protection of their data. With the current wave of AI, none of them ever wanted their data going to OpenAI or Anthropic or China either. Not new, not punk :-). Just how a lot of orgs and people have always operated. Often called “luddites” or “behind”, for NOT utilizing cloud services. Now they/we look visionary....

I live here now wrt AI and the dichotomy of both very young and older engineer/dev/sysadmin people who don’t get what noobs and “non-technical” people can do with AI: "If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry"
