What do you guys use for posting long form content on Nostr these days? Habla News seems to be dead. I used https://write.nostr.com last time which tbf is very clean and works well as a basic markdown editor but for images and media I had to upload manually somewhere else and paste links in. Anything else you guys use and would recommend?

Works now after restarting my Tor connection. That's weird since it isn't set to load media through Tor just the relay connections. Maybe because it's a Blossom server the initial resolution is done over Tor or something. Anyway it was definitely an issue on my end.

Agree completely. I run Knots on my node. If someone wants to write arbitrary data to the blockchain, they can go use a shitcoin and waste blockspace there. Bitcoin is for separating money from the state, not being a database for random bullshit. And I've never ever sold Bitcoin for fiat in my life and I never will.

If someone has a history of scamming I assume their views of Bitcoin are "whatever benefits my own self-interest." That's logical to me, you don't usually get scammy people who are driven by ethics in other areas of their lives.

Spark isn't an IOU like wrapped BTC. It's backed by actual Bitcoin that's been pegged in on the native Bitcoin blockchain. Very similar to Lightning itself. Personally I'd only hold small amounts on it. But I also treat normal Lightning the exact same way. In both cases you hold BTC in an L2, backed by real BTC locked on L1, but with a different network and trust model.

Monero is honestly great, I'm a Bitcoiner but I'll admit XMR is literally the only altcoin I use and it clearly has genuine advantages for privacy. I literally used it just a few hours ago in fact. But Lightning is so much better suited to this use case (instantly sending through a messaging app) and Bitcoin is better sound money. Lightning provides decent privacy itself as well - not Monero level, but enough for most people since there's no public blockchain and transactions use onion routing. And fair enough if you don't send fiat via messaging apps but a lot of normies do, so making it just as easy to send Bitcoin is seriously a big deal.

The Breez + Spark SDK isn't custodial. Spark is a sidechain that does real time submarine swaps for Lightning so the user doesn't have to deal with managing channels and liquidity, so it's not strictly speaking a "true Lightning wallet", but it's not custodial. You hold the keys.

I like keeping in contact with other plebs and I'm always trying to get friends and family into Bitcoin. Nostr DMs are so shit for the former and the latter is always a challenge. This bridges two gaps for me personally: 1. I can chat with my fellow Bitcoiners securely and reliably 2. Since most of my friends and fam already use Signal it's a perfect way to introduce them to Bitcoin Lightning and show them how easy it is. Number two is especially strong if I just point them to as well. Literally it's "yo I can send you Bitcoin just as easily as sending fiat on other messaging apps and you can go into the real world and actually spend it." This can seriously be so powerful for adoption. No need to tell your normie friends they have to set up a wallet and explaining how everything works. Just being able to send it on a Signal chat. I'm seriously so psyched for this.

If I'm reading the site correctly this is a fork of Signal that's compatible with regular Signal, similar to how Molly works, right? So I can just replace Signal with this but if one of my contacts uses vanilla Signal we can still message, just not send sats? This is really amazing work man fr.
