I joined a few communities on Armada and I am seeing a trend. There are multiple people there who do not seem to have any regular Nostr activity. They don't really know about Nostr. And when interacting with one of them they were excited that there is more than just the discord clone. So a few people who really want to escape discord have found the discord alternative and they know nothing about the rest of discord and do not appear to be bitcoiners. That is a very good sign that it has mainstream appeal. And once they are on Armada talking about what they like in there, its a small step to bring more diverse content here to. I want Nostr to be for everyone and that is a lot more fun when its not 90% about Nostr itself or Bitcoin.

If it needs to be really private Session is also a great one. Signal I don't use since its centralized. Simplex I architecturally don't like as much since it requires people to keep their phones on. Threema is centralized / paid. So which ones do I really like? Matrix is my number one, sure they have metadata but the messages are private. Session is a good one if you do care about metadata. And I am now messing around with Armada (concord) as well as a possible future discord alternative. So I also shop around for these a lot, but I only keep the ones I think are actually working solid. Matrix you do need to be sure your on a good homeserver though, matrix.org is UK based and will have to comply with its acts.

Sounds like you got ripped off. But its probably just to be allowed to post to a specific relay. All the main ones people use are free.

Personally its not at the stage I can use that yet. My community is already bridged to matrix and to large for discord to approve bots. So discord ís the worst place to bridge to. Matrix treats all discord users as seperate so from there to armada would bridge smoothly. But right now i'd be opening a massive spam vulnerability and if that syncs to discord my community could get banned. Without the proper channel permissions, captcha bots, etc its to early for me to adopt.

I still like Matrix, and for one on one communication it beats nostr for sure. But for group chats armada is already getting on par and will soon surpass it I expect.

Its a solution to a different problem. Marmot tries to make DM's private. Concord tries to solve the community aspect, its encrypting entire communities with multiple channels, roles, that sort of thing. So concord is not for DM's, you'd use regular NIP-17 or marmot for that. But its by far the best version of group chats on Nostr I have seen.

People liked me posting a link to Doom that worked on Ditto. Then someone said "My app can do xdc to". It wasn't xdc, but wait. What is xdc? That does seem to miss some

Doesn't surprise me since I had the most toxic experience on the fediverse out of any platform. I know bluesky is full of the same types, I don't even try to join it. This place is for people who by design respect the right of other people to be there and voice their idea's. Its massively bitcoin centric in the current audience so since thats not my own interest I always enjoy it when other people with different interests join. It is bridged to mastodon as well which brings the left wing politics in, but its not like left wingers are unwelcome here. They can join and voice their idea's to. As long as they don't expect to be able to get others banned for criticizing their idea's of course.

And the concord side is just beginning. I did try your relay for that but its useless for it by design since yours is not writable for everyone. Its a very fun ecosystem though.
