Shapiro is serving another country. As for Kirk, the OP called him empathic, and respectful, not *correct*. It’s worth noting that regarding Muslims that empathy usually goes out the window, but I don’t blame him, it’s the same kind of disgust many have on conservative Christians. My main beef with him was how he would describe the US as a Christian nation but also defend separation of church and state. I can get the nuance, but that’s doesn’t work in his type of rhetoric.

I don’t want to talk about this anymore, but let’s call what happened what it was. An execution. And executions are political and justifiable by some because of that weight. It communicates “We don’t allow this here”. Kirk’s political ideas have been argued before and whether you like or not, were once even culturally defeated. Freedom of speech means we will have to reargue the some points over and over again, yes. Freedom is not an intuitive concept as we’d like it to be.

I spoke with an Egyptian Muslim this summer, in his opinion, Muslims hold Mary in higher esteem and had some “data” to back it up. (not arguing for Islam, just an interesting side note)
