Subscriptions are fine as long as the customer feels like they are getting something for it or they realize there is a constant cost to the developer that needs to be covered. For example, if your app relies on a server, someone is going to have to pay for the server, and while some developers eat the cost themselves, they shouldn’t be expected to. What people don’t want, is to pay for a subscription that offers nothing other than the continual use of features you already paid for. There are quite a few mastodon clients that do this and it pisses me off.

Primal has some decent features if you’re to Nostr, but once the onboarding is done you may find yourself looking around and asking yourself,”this is it?”. One big difference, YakiHonne offers a built in wallet without KYC (still not sure why they thought that would be a good idea). No subscription necessary to gain extra features and no cheesy declaration of how long you have been subscribing or how much you have spent on supporting them, that only other primal users can see. But for me, there is one feature that truly stands out, the team. You won’t find a nicer team to support and they genuinely seem to enjoy making the experience as enjoyable as possible and aren’t concerned with becoming #nostrfamous.
