Only issue with solar mining is that you need batteries to continue mining into the night. Combine solar with wind or small scale hydro. I think that's the solution. Especially if you're using wind to pump water up to a tank and then gravity feeding it through a pipe with hydro generators as you need power. If you're somewhere with limited water you can do the same thing but with gears and weights instead of pipes and water.
