I think you might still get one "good" address that has the @pm.me domain. If you go into the options, there should be a banner in (I think) the Identity and Addresses area. I can't see the banner anymore because I already used it though, so perhaps it's located elsewhere in the options. I may be wrong...it may be only for paid accounts but I think they gave everyone one freebie due to this exact issue.

I appreciate that. It has been brutal, psychologically speaking. I bet the people at Proton have no idea how brutal it has been. I'm glad to hear that they put banners up about it but it sounds like that was a temporary and ill designed band-aid for this matter. There should be a pop up notification on every single email that is sent from the @ProtonMail.com domain that reads something like "If you send this email, there's a very good chance it will not be delivered to your intended recipient's Inbox and will instead get filtered as SPAM. In the Options menu, ProtonMail offers alternative email domains that will help circumvent this issue." The popup could have a checkbox on it that reads "Don't show this popup again" as well.

I know you are not ProtonMail, but you're part of the same Proton organization so I'm hoping you'll get this message and relay it to the rest of Proton. I just want to share how frustrating it has been to use a protonmail.com email address for YEARS AND YEARS without knowing that protonmail.com email domains are being automatically diverted away from the Inbox of the intended recipient and instead are being routed into the SPAM box of the intended recipient. In today's world, people are assholes. They don't respond to things. They "ghost" people and don't have any moral qualms about it which is fucked up. People expect things to work. The default expectation isn't that my emails are being delivered to the intended recipient's SPAM folder. The default expectation is that my emails are being delivered to the intended recipient's Inbox. For years, I've been getting stonewalled in my attempts to reach out to various people for various reasons and I didn't understand what the fuck was going on. I only recently learned that it's because your email domain is being subverted by your competitors' SPAM filters. If I've been with Proton for years and years, why have I not been made aware of this issue by ProtonMail yet? You need to make that abundantly clear to your users SOMEHOW. I've been languishing, alone, for years, wondering why the fuck nobody returns my emails. Why didn't you let us know what was going on? Why didn't you relieve us of the frustration we were experiencing by informing us?

An excellent example of failure to adhere to and practice the Golden Rule is setting false expectations in the minds of others. Nobody pitches a perfect game. We all mess this up, some a lot more than others. If you have the power to set someone's expectations, be responsible about it. That person uses their expectations to plan their scarce time and if you've provided them with false expectations, you're attacking their ability to effectively live their life. Don't take this responsibility lightly. Furthermore, if your victim points out your shortcoming in that regard, check your ego, eat your crow, apologize, and try not to do it again. Be better.

You are assuming a spiritual explanation for the origin. I am not…and I AM practical. The spiritual side may or may not be relevant to the origin. The materialistic explanation is definitely relevant. The best one can say for the spiritual aspect is that there may be a spiritual association with the holidays, but suggesting that the spiritual aspect is associated with the origin is nonsensical and myopic. Dr. Michael Heiser talked about it on the Naked Bible Podcast. I think it was September 11, of the year 3 B.C. was the exact date based on computer astronomy models getting rewound. I think September 15, of the year 7 B.C. was the other date that people felt qualified. The year 0 was a pretty solid guess by a 6th century monk, Dionysius Exiguus, but there's almost no way he was right working with what would have been available 500 years after Christ.
