Grind harder. Or get good. Head & Blood does for you what a skill tree can't, because Head & Blood goes beyond making you feel like a strong boi. Koja doesn't get stronger over the course of the game. You do, habibi. Set inside a single contiguous fortress (with no stat screens or ability menus between you and the next fight), Head & Blood is uniquely designed to make slaughter itself the engine, in a way a sissy little XP bar never can. Game designers tell us that the most satisfying difficulty comes not from watching numbers go up, but from doing what failed you yesterday with precision today. Just as a fight you can't lose isn't training, a game where you can always grind your way through ain't a challenge. Without real pressure, your combat becomes too safe, causing the "meh" satisfaction that fades before you close the game, and the suspicion that you weren't actually good (just over-leveled). Each time Koja tears through a wave of crusader or undead legions, his axe drinks deep and the gate ahead cracks open a little further. So you can stop wondering whether the game was hard or you were bad ...and start knowing the difference (you were bad🤷‍♂️) And Head & Blood is grind-free and level-up-free, with just the right amount of player left to blame. So, it's not only right for the weekend you want to lose yourself in. It's also right for the player you've always known you were. 🥲 Join our email list to stay updated: https://talesofkhayr.com/

In fiction, truly intelligent villains play "chess not checkers" and always have more options to draw from. Because they anticipate their enemies' moves, the only way to defeat an intelligent villian is to slowly remove their options or outlast them until they run out of options. Note: This tweet ain't really about fiction.

Is every new manga just jobber-filled slop? Or can Brotherhood of the Wolf prove its ensemble actually matters in a single issue? BEFORE you waste another weekend on a cast that stands around waiting for the MC to need them, you need to read issue one of Brotherhood of the Wolf. You'll disco ver that an ensemble of misfits each carrying their own weight can often be caused by one simple thing: a writer who doesn't let anyone job. Got isekai fatigue… but love to read classic sword and sorcery in a never-before-seen setting? Try this no-filler darkly funny comic that delivers so much narrative punch finding something like it is a rarity that must be admired and cherished. If you have isekai fatigue (or even if you don't), you already know that American localizers can ruin anime and that Amazon is absolute poison for anything genuinely good. At the same time, Crunchy Roll-shilled isekai such as another demon king relaxing have often lead to zero narrative payoff and no original concept to keep you reading past volume one. And that's the LAST thing you need these days! In your free trailer for Brotherhood of the Wolf: The Blood Tax, you'll see it's today's BEST dark historical sword and sorcery for people with isekai fatigue. That way, you get the "manga is so back" feeling you crave, but without paying the "price" later on. Get the trailer here:https://talesofkhayr.com

I'm with you. And for me, it's less about nostalgia farming and just more about executing the gameplay genre in a way that delivers on the core promise. Hollow Knight Silksong did a great job of it, but games like Blasphemous, which present with a very grimdark aesthetic, have some non-trivial design problems once you start looking at it from a purely gameplay perspective.

Imagine loading into a Metroidvania and finally: -Feeling that close to sadistic arcade style gameplay you've been craving -Knowing the studio didn't excuse broken systems with pretty art -Playing something built for you. Not for the casual audience or for a "safe" audience -Moving through a world you've already lived in through our comics and novels. Head & Blood is being built to deliver all that. We're building an (albeit ugly, for now) prototype to ensure we have the fundamentals down. Join our email list to stay updated: https://t.co/GjUnynuMfJ
