If you're 65 or older, the day you crossed that line, you became legally exempt from a whole stack of bills and taxes most people keep paying for years â because the agencies collecting them will never call to tell you to stop.
Being legally exempt and actually not paying are two completely different things, and the only bridge between them is knowing which form to file.
In this video I walk through 5 bills and taxes seniors 65 and older can legally stop paying, lower, or freeze â including a brand-new senior tax deduction almost nobody is claiming yet, a property tax freeze that can save homeowners thousands, and a Medicare program that pays your premium for you.
Most people qualify for at least one of these and don't even know it.
For each item, I break down exactly who it helps the most and the one phone call or form that actually claims it â no lawyer, no fees, no complicated paperwork.

âDo We Hire More People? Do We Hire Less People?â
Paul Osterman, a professor emeritus at MIT, and the author of âDisposable Workers,â a new book on the transformation of employment. âWE HAVE NO IDEA. NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA!!!â
Osterman said many companies treated employees as dispensable, cutting them when convenient, or downgrading them into contractor or part-time roles. He expects that trend to continue in this moment of flux.
âAI ("and the lack of leadership coming out of Washington D.C., Monty) introduces so much uncertainty with employers, not sure knowing what they need or donât need,â he said, adding that the drumbeat of AIâs power to displace humans and save shareholders money wonât stop.
âWhoâs going to be the victim of all that noise?â
Disposable Workers: The Transformation of Employment
by Paul Osterman (Author)
A revealing look at the decline in formal employment in favor of hiring contractors, freelancers, temps, and marginal workers, who are excluded from traditional benefits and career ladders.
Companies cannot exist without workers, but they are increasingly reluctant to have employees.
Instead of providing the benefits and protections that have traditionally come with employee status, businesses are turning to tactics that let them treat people as interchangeable parts, to be used and discarded as needed.
Drawing on an original survey of over 6,000 workers, Disposable Workers reveals the striking extent of this transformation across the occupational hierarchy, affecting everyone from janitors to nurses.
Paul Osterman identifies three distinct categories of disposable workers: contractors, freelancers, and marginal employees.
The marginal category, unique to Ostermanâs analysis, describes workers who are employees from a narrow legal standpoint but are held at armâs length by their firmâleft without job security, skill training, or opportunities for promotion.
Many low-wage service workers toil in marginal jobs, but so do white-collar professionals such as adjunct university faculty and staff attorneys at law firms.
When the three categories are added up, they account for more than 35 percent of the American workforce.
Not all disposable workers object to their arrangements. But most contractors and marginal employees would prefer standard employment, and there is a significant cost to their current status.
In response, Disposable Workers offers a range of policy recommendations, including mechanisms to prevent over-reliance on contracting and freelancing as well as reforms to improve job quality for part-timers and marginal employees.
As the deconstruction of employment affects more and more workers, the importance of such measures will only grow.

Lactate, BDNF And Their Relationship To Enhanced Brain Function!
Often feared and misrepresented as a metabolic waste product that is the source of muscle burn during intense exerciseâneither of which are trueâlactate is actually a critical regulator of many brain-supporting pathways.
More intense exercise leads to more lactate productionâoften called anaerobic exercise due to a reliance on high-speed energy production that occurs without oxygen (aero, meaning)âwhere the build-up of lactate is helping to offset acid accumulation that causes the âburn.
Lactate supports multiple aspects of brain and physical function, and is even being researched as a therapy for many types of brain injury because of the way it activates pathways that support the growth and recovery of neurons.
In particular, lactate drives the production of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) âthe critical growth factor that supports neuronal function during exercise (more intensity leads to more BDNF).
So at least part of the reason intensity matters for some of the benefits of movement is that more intense exercise results in the accumulation of lactate, which directly activates BDNF production.
BDNF that is produced in the body during exercise doesnât necessarily get into the brain, because it isnât easily transported across the blood-brain barrier (BBB), the tight network of cells and junctions that regulates what can get into the brain from the blood.
This is where lactate comes to the rescue. The brain is a big fan of lactate and has transporters that ensure that the more lactate we produce, the more lactate gets into the brain.
Once lactate is in the brain, it increases local BDNF production that directly supports brain function.
Remember that BDNF (as well as many of the other exerkines) is almost like a cognitive tonic
âsupporting neuroplasticity and the strength of new connectionsâwhich helps to build headroom (Bigger And Better Brains).

The Home Chefs Trying To Out-Cook Restaurants
Motivated amateurs are going far beyond the basics, with centrifuges, dehydrators and meat aging chambers.
Two weeks before guests arrive for one of his omakase-style dinner parties, Travis Iwanaga will place a slab of bluefin tuna belly in a dry-aging fridge in his New York apartment.
Over the next 14 days, Iwanaga will monitor the fish with the watchful eye of a sushi chef.
Aging the tuna is just the beginning of his prep. Before his seven guests sit down, he may also have clarified some cocktails, spun sorbets light as air with a Pacojet and assembled kakigori, the eye-catching snow-cone-like dessert, with help from an electric Japanese ice machine.

E*TRADE From Morgan Stanley ($7.35 Trillion) Completes Rollout Of Spot Bitcoin Tradingđđđżđ¤Šâ
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management continues to invest in the E*TRADE platform with expanded offerings for investors at every stage, including long-term planning, active trading and more.
New York â
E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley today announced the rollout of spot Bitcoin trading in digital assets, giving eligible clients the ability to buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin directly on E*TRADEâs award-winning platform1 in partnership with zerohash, a leading digital asset infrastructure provider.
The launch comes on the heels of several platform enhancements for investors at every stage of their financial journey, from those just starting out, to active traders, to those saving for the long-term.
Whatâs New On E*TRADE
Spot Bitcoin ETF trading rollout. Eligible clients can now buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin in a linked zerohash account at a competitive price of 50 bps and the ability to view their digital assets alongside their traditional investments.
Transfer functionality is expected to launch later this year.
This kind of change mostly affects Bitcoin indirectly by potentially increasing access and demand sourcesâbut it wonât change Bitcoinâs supply.
Likely Impacts On Bitcoin
More retail demand (incremental bids): If more investors can buy BTC inside a familiar brokerage interface (instead of a separate exchange account), that can add some incremental buying pressureâusually gradual, not an immediate âprice jumpâ driver.
Tighter spreads / more competition in the retail channel: If the pricing/UX makes BTC exposure cheaper or easier for more people, volumes can shift toward the brokerage channel.
That can support liquidity, though price impact depends on net flows (buyers vs sellers).
Normalization / âon-rampâ effect: Big Wall Street platforms adding spot crypto trading can broaden participation (and sentiment), which can matter at the marginâespecially during rallies.
Fee-driven trading volume isnât the same as long-term demand: A flat per-trade fee (like the 50 bps figure reported for the rollout) can increase activity, but a lot of trading is switching/rotation rather than net new accumulation.
What It Does Not Do
No Supply Change: Bitcoinâs issuance is set by protocol rules; adding broker access doesnât alter that.
No Automatic Guarantee Of Sustained Inflows:
Whether price rises depends on whether the brokerage channel brings net new capital and whether those customers hold rather than trade out quickly.
What To Watch To Gauge Real Impact
Net âspotâ inflows into Bitcoin (exchange/ETP flow data), not just news headlines.
US retail spot volumes around the rollout timeframe.
Holding/withdrawal behavior (are users accumulating or churning?).

The Fastest-Growing Risk To Air, Boat And Train Travel Is Probably In Your Pocket
Phones, power banks and vapes are spontaneously catching fire on planes, boats, trains, etc. injuring passengers and disrupting flights.
Minutes after Alaska Airlines Flight 2117 had lifted from the runway, a phone and power bank sitting in a passengerâs lap burst into flames.
The fire scorched the passengerâs arms and legs before she tossed the devices into the aisle, where flight attendants scrambled to get them into a fireproof bag to quell the blaze.
Pilots declared an emergency, dropped oxygen masks in the cabin, and turned back to Wichita, Kan.
The incident from earlier this year is just one example of what airlines and regulators say is the fastest-growing safety threat to air travelâphones, power banks and vapes spontaneously catching fire mid-flight.
