That said, we recently went through grey listing and now compliance requirements have become very tough for finance companies. I'd imagine it's affected crypto companies the same way.

The regulators are more accomodative than other European countries, especially in their handing out of MICA licenses. And we have a very competitive corporate tax rate for foreign entities. We also had some scheme going on where companies didn't nead to be immediately compliant. They'd get a two year pass or something like that. I don't know about the property rights. The government doesn't regularly sieze stuff. Maybe had the companies bribed their way in, I think there'd be more around. But they work independently of governments as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure it's not the case. It was a donation by Binance to put themselves on our good books. Performative. If they wanted a backroom deal the local politicians would've been open arms, plenty such cases. Especially the admin back then. They could've used this money to fund the honest operations and squander the other funds to the beaurocracy.
