I've been thinking about how the DNS centralisation problem vould be solved with nostr without creating a new central authority, what if identities just worked like: lmao@1004785 ? just your name + a bitcoin block number in L1 as a special runestone; the block number is the verification itself, only one person can own by a private key and/or nsec, if you want extra security, add 4 hash digits: [email protected] and that would work for websites too if putting an IP instead of a pubkey in the runestone; I think that isn't so complicated, just a human readable name, a bitcoin block, and optionally 4 cryptographic digits, no central DNS, renewal fees, or nameservers to trust
