this is what I mean about Western Nations bullying Central and South American countries into submission with geopolitics in my earlier comment to your post.
European refugee here. Thanks for the post this, I remember Coin Bureau covering the shift in world tax regulation and this 'cooperation' (extortion most likely via some economic or geopolitical leverage more likely). Still believe the latam infra/bureaucracy will lag behind, and privacy first tools like Monero and Retoswap will provide a great alternative to people looking to outright reject this new total surveillance dystopia. Not all latam countries are the same and as of 2026 a couple of them already have systems in place that are basically worse than some European 'regulatory' systems. There is also the cultural aspect that Latam people are not as bothered to comply immediately as my fellow sheep in europe. Things are still less formal in the day to day. So even with these system in place they will still follow their own customs (much harder to break). One way I have noticed that the parasitic government are addressing this is by limiting people to services unless they download the official gov[dot]... malware app and use facial recognition [which is totally private and does not retain any sensitive data... trust me bro]. Which to be honest should be illegal and treasonous.
Woke math is harder than calculus
Totally get, I was banned from X recently. I had Nitter bookmarked (like all my other alt services) and was too lazy to use it. That's the problem I guess with most people. It is too 'easy' to type into the addr bar "Youtube" (muscle memory) instead of invidious or odysee. Also the problem that 'being early' means you cant follow most of your favorite channels, because they are still lagging with the change. In the end I think it is blessing in disguise, a kick in the butt to adopt better alternatives full time. Now trying to remember what caused the shift from MySpace to the worse site of all time, Facebook. Probably standardizing people in a way all boomers could understand (years later).
I'm no Nostr Vet either, only for a year or so. My basic understanding is that its the underlying technology/protocol (much like what Haveno is to RetoSwap). So anyone can use the open source code to integrate into a 'third party' service to access it, and also tweak it to how they want to use it. Nosmore/Monstr are basically built on the Nostr network and customized the algorithm, UI and some config settings to allow for adding 'Monero Zaps' or tips with a connected Monero wallet. I have no had much luck with using these harnesses. So I stick to Nostr native clients to have a smoother experience reading and intersecting with posts and just manually searching for and following the Monero community.
Used retodwap for a year and a half now. Best btc to xmr swap and also best offramping zero kyc out there
Isn't omarchy just arch with Hyprland
Do you think we need a Monero Native Nostr equivalent (the longer route) or improve existing Monero harnesses for Nostr like Nosmero and MonstrLand?
#monero community finally left twitter (forcibly removed due to having my own opinion and thinking for myself) Hit me up I am trying to follow everyone back again in here
I am down! We need stuff like Nostr Spaces for fellow Privacy and Freedom first people, something that will attract more of us to connect and build the parallel economy.
