Antidepressants are the scam. Start with lifestyle, then go for holistic medicine as needed.

I gave up sugar (all sweets, cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc.) 18 years ago. It was an addiction for me, but eventually my taste changed and the cravings left. Now I can't stand anything that tastes too sweet.
