If we are gods, then we are changing the definition of God. You aren’t all-knowing, all-good, all-powerful etc. so you’re not God by any historical definition. You’re a human. And human is still pretty cool (at least by the Christian conception) because you can create, make moral decisions, live eternally in the future and more. Human is still pretty cool.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15 that if Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, we should pack up and go home. He claimed to be God. If he’s incorrect or lying, his moral code is worthless as well, wouldn’t you think?

I’m confused. Let’s say I sell socks. I see that a storm wiped out the cotton supply for the socks I’m making in three months. Why wouldn’t I raise prices knowing that I’ll be out of socks to sell soon?

I believe you’re misunderstanding that verse. Jacob = Israel and Esau is shorthand for Edom. God doesn’t wish that any should perish.
