Criticism of Nostr stems from a distorted view of social media. The social element in these apps has long been erased and replaced by the algorithmic spirit. There is no you, every interaction is steered. If you're criticising Nostr because it's not big enough you need to ask yourself what does being social in the digital age actually mean.

Yuk Hui critiques the homogenising technological systems of modernity, arguing for a cosmotechnics that recognises diverse technological approaches and ways of relating to the world. That cannot be done without recognising the roles that culture and ethics have on building an independant course of technological development. China was able to develop at an accelerated pace, this however, wasn't because it was able to chart its own distinct technological way of looking at the world. Rather, it represents an accelerated version to the Western project. Which is why we see both China and the US being tied economically rather than being two indepedant competing trains of development, they both need each other to move forward. This is why philosophers like Yuk Hui are important and influencial to the nodes of the early Cyber Islamic network like SAIF, anything we do to develop needs to be grounded in Ihsan and Ibadah.

Why all the signs of Muslim splinternet formation point to Nostr. We saw with the Arab spring how 21st century coups are formed through centralised cognition conditioning due to the West's monopoly on Fiber optics But with Nostr being an option for network formation, that takes care of cognition. What will be difficult is the fiber optics side, which would require an anchor state that's capable of developing an independent global fiber optic cable system which will be able to independently power these Nostr networks through data centers. Developing data centers for this will be a separate challenge

Yes depending on the speciality and stage of development. I work on developing data centres and other emerging critical infrastructure, so 's writings on OPSEC and LLM's was relatable on a technical level, however I'm yet to meet someone on the network that actually works on this beyond theory which is understandable as it is still nascent. I'm thinking more of setting a framework that can map areas of development within the Islamicate to achieve splinternet formation. At that level it would need group work ofc

I expected from their posts on X that they'll be quite active on Nostr which surprised me when I fully made the hijra. Whilst being a part of the group looks cool practically I think taking what they theorise and implementing it in a chosen speciality is more realistic

The West lost civilisational pull when it allowed its cybernetic class to develop not for its own sake but for the casino fiction of its empire. Technocratic solutions have become a tool for hyperfinancialisation of the riba system that keeps the empire alive. Accelerate 🌀

Do you think Nostr becomes popular due to a fundamental change in traditional social media?

What I meant was profile algorithmic shape up through data monetising being in its infancy and nowhere near its current state. I was quite young back then so it was about joining the hype train for me lol

I prefer the zap function than the like button tbf, but I get what you mean I guess they do need to implement a similar interface to attract users. Personally, I'll be okay with them deleting the like button
