De-Googling an old phone: How I ruined my weekend :-) We aren't locked into the #Apple or #Google ecosystems. FOSS alternatives exist for practically everything. After setting up a Debian home server a few months back, I spent this weekend de-Googling an old Samsung A50. I disabled Google Play Services via ADB, then loaded up F-Droid for #Kvaesitso, #Fennec, Organic Maps, and open-source sync tools. Aurora Store got my banking apps and PayPal installed seamlessly... but now comes the real test: seeing if Play Integrity lets me actually log in without stock GMS or signature spoofing for microG. #Privacy isn't impossible; it just requires a bit of effort (and some serious troubleshooting).
