I REMAIN THE EXPERIENCER Life presents experiences. Thoughts arise. Emotions arise. Sensations arise. People arrive and leave. Money comes and goes. Plans succeed and fail. Praise and criticism appear. Pleasure and discomfort pass through. I experience all of it. I do not have to become any of it. When something activates me, I don’t abandon the seat in order to fight with the experience. I notice. I lean back. I relax. I allow myself to feel what is actually here. Then I ask: What does this moment actually require of me? If action is required, I act wholeheartedly. If nothing is required, I let the experience pass. I handle life without asking life to handle my inner state. That last sentence feels like a keeper. This also clarifies “selfless service” I wouldn’t interpret Singer’s neutrality as becoming a person without personality, ambition, preferences or direction. Robert still gets to be Robert. You can build things. Make introductions. Help somebody. Travel halfway around the planet with a friend. Have strong opinions. Love your daughters. Get excited about an idea. Make money. Lose money. Try again. Laugh. Be disappointed. Have an absolutely magnificent dinner. None of that contradicts the witness. The question becomes: Is consciousness participating in the experience—or has consciousness become psychologically dependent upon the experience? That’s the dividing line you’ve been circling for weeks. And Human Design fits here—but only as a mirror There’s an interesting connection with the Projector material you were talking about with Glenn. I wouldn’t say that Human Design proves that you’re supposed to behave a particular way. It isn’t scientifically established that a Projector type determines personality or destiny. But as a reflective metaphor, there’s a useful correspondence: See clearly. Don’t force. Don’t chase recognition. Offer what you see where there’s openness. Notice bitterness when you’re demanding recognition. Singer provides the deeper safeguard: Even recognition itself is an object of consciousness. Someone recognizes what you see? Wonderful. Someone doesn’t? The seat remains available. That keeps Human Design from becoming another identity: “I’m a Projector, therefore this is who I am.” Singer would probably turn the telescope around again: Who is aware of the thought “I’m a Projector”? That’s the more interesting inquiry. One place I’d separate Singer from physics again Singer’s description of Shakti, consciousness generating creation, “higher vibrations,” and a fundamental conscious field belongs to his yogic/metaphysical worldview. Quantum physics doesn’t currently establish that consciousness is the field from which the physical universe manifests, or that spiritual evolution corresponds to physically higher frequencies. You can leave that question gloriously open. Because none of the practical experiment depends upon proving it. You know directly that: thoughts appear. emotions appear. sensations appear. And somehow: you know they’re appearing. That’s enough territory for a lifetime of investigation. And I think we’ve reached an interesting place with bubbling bliss Originally, the aspiration could sound like: How do I stay in bubbling bliss? After all these Singer talks, it’s becoming: Can I stay in the seat regardless of what’s bubbling through? Sometimes bliss. Sometimes fear. Sometimes excitement. Sometimes irritation. Sometimes silence. Sometimes absolutely nothing interesting whatsoever. You don’t need to manufacture the preferred experience. Remain the experiencer. And that may be the most compact description yet of the life philosophy you’ve been constructing: Stay in the seat. Let life pass through. Handle what remains. Don’t store the residue. Love without grabbing. Serve without needing recognition. Act without demanding the result. And don’t miss the astonishing experience of being here because you’re busy trying to arrange it.
