I would prefer handling this with policy rules like the op_return filter. There is a need for both protocol consensus and policy. The former is fortunately almost impossible to change so we need the latter for flexible guidelines that can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. That being said I think 110 is a noble effort to check the out of control hubris and group think happening within Core and deserves support.

Bitcoin also solves the trusted 3rd party problem. Gold standard advocates never have an answer to the trust issue except "trust me".

The worst part of all this is the precedent set. We now are in a world where properly motivated devs can and will use their reputation/influence to get changes pushed to Bitcoin Core *the reference client* to benefit their own interests to the detriment to node operators. Bitcoin only works when incentives are aligned, and sadly that is no longer the case for Core and plebs.

Core devs like jb are all over the QC nonsense like stink on shit. The excuse to seize Satoshi's coins gets them all excited. Core v30 was a successful attack on Bitcoin, with more to follow, paving the way for QC confiscation and worse. The sooner people wake up to this the better.

Well put. For me it's always been an issue of scope creep. Bitcoin has one use case: money. Those who want bitcoin to be more than that can go create their own shitcoin, or join one of the many existing ones.
