I don't think there's a need to distinguish between name and display_name as there are no restrictions on either. It might have been different if name had a restriction like alphanumeric characters only.

Twitter は @screen_name が ID だったから表示名としての name が必要だったけど Nostr の ID は pubkey なので name と display_name が両方ある意味は皆無
