Passing by a cornfield in a very hot afternoon, over 30˚C, I found out where bumblebees hide from the heat. It is obviously cooler between the corn leaves as the plant regulates its temperature by evaporating water from the leaf surface through vents. Plants thus reach around 20˚C on the leaf surface.
