Socialism breaks down because of problem solving having to jump through so many middlemen: taxpayer > tax collectors/police > politicians > beaurocrats > producer > benificiary So much value gets lost along the way, but also suffers from distance between person wanting to solve the problem and the solver/producer. Capitalism in the ideal case is: Person with need <-> Person with solution The tightest loop is a person solving their own problems, self-sufficiency. I think these "newer" associated views are mostly more correct than their opposites. Agree that they discourage adoption. Probably bad, but how it biases who adopts might not be too bad. Individualists prefer sovereignty and collectivists prefer implicitly trust-based organization after all.
