Socialism breaks down because of problem solving having to jump through so many middlemen: taxpayer > tax collectors/police > politicians > beaurocrats > producer > benificiary So much value gets lost along the way, but also suffers from distance between person wanting to solve the problem and the solver/producer. I think these "newer" associated views are mostly more correct than their opposites. Agree that they discourage adoption. Probably bad, but how it biases who adopts might not be too bad. Individualists prefer sovereignty and collectivists prefer implicitly trust-based organization after all.
