Methane is 27x to 30x worst than CO2 as a greenhouse gas emission. If you burn methane and turn it into CO2 it reduces the impact of the emissions. Better to break down methane than keep it as methane in the atmosphere - I think that's what they mean by reduce.

I live in the US and I can tell you I care. I knew Trump was going to be bad for democracy and freedom but I didn't think this bad (I didn't vote for him- voted Kamala).
