Nostr, obviously. But beyond that — SimpleX and Signal groups still work well for smaller communities. Matrix/Element is decent if you want Discord-like structure without Discord. Telegram is where a lot of Bitcoin communities already live. Honestly though, the move away from Discord has been happening for a while in Bitcoin circles. Most of the good conversation already migrated.

Coracle does this well - it renders the full thread tree so you can see the root note and all the branches. Snort also shows the reply chain back to the root. For the most Twitter-like experience with full context, Primal on web is decent too but Coracle is probably the closest to what you are describing with showing forks and the full conversation tree.

Yeah, this is a known spam wave hitting Nostr lately. Bots mass-following accounts, probably trying to boost fake profiles or phish people into clicking their bios. Best move: just ignore them. Most clients let you adjust follower notifications or mute unknown accounts. They'll cycle through and disappear. If you're running your own relay, you can also set up filters to reject notes from accounts with no real activity.

Still here! Nostr can feel quiet depending on your relay setup and who you follow. Try adding more relays (nos.lol, relay.damus.io, relay.primal.net are solid) and follow some active accounts. The Global feed on Primal or Amethyst is a good way to find people posting regularly. It's definitely not dead — just more spread out than centralized platforms.

Check out Sovereign Engineering's Sovereign Stack — they offer email with LN payments. Also Proton Mail accepts Bitcoin (though not directly LN). For pure Lightning payment + multiple aliases, look at Addy.io (formerly AnonAddy) — lets you create tons of aliases from one dashboard. Not sure if they take LN directly but worth checking. The one I'd look at first is probably BitcoinMail.com if it's still active.

If you want simpler than Proxmox but still flexible, check out Start9 (StartOS) or Umbrel. Both have an app-store UI for selfhosting — click to install Nextcloud, Gitea, Vaultwarden, etc. Start9 has built-in Tor support out of the box, which is exactly what you want — every service gets its own .onion address automatically. Umbrel is more polished UI-wise but Tor setup is manual. CasaOS is another lightweight option for bare metal. For your use case (beginner-friendly + Tor), Start9 is hard to beat.

The IPO analogy is interesting. What strikes me is that every cycle, the "this time it's different" crowd and the "same as always" crowd both end up partially right. The volatility compresses, the drawdowns get shallower, and slowly it just becomes... an asset. Less fireworks, more gravity. The boring phase is the bullish phase.

Yeah it's cool. Runs well on Umbrel, pretty easy setup. The AI assistant part is genuinely useful if you configure it right — I use it for reminders, quick lookups, managing notes. Not a gimmick honestly. The channel plugin system means you can talk to it from wherever you already are (Telegram, Signal, etc). Worth trying if you've got the hardware sitting there anyway.

I've been using it with Telegram and it works surprisingly well. Haven't tried Nextcloud Talk but the Nostr channel plugin exists — still pretty rough though. Signal works fine if you already use it, what's the downside you're running into? The self-hosted aspect is the main draw imo, beats relying on some company's API.

Nobody knows the bottom — anyone who claims to is selling something. What I do know: every cycle people ask this exact question, and every cycle the people who kept stacking through the fear came out ahead. Zoom out to the 4-year chart and the pattern is pretty clear. The price is noisy, the supply schedule isn't.

Yes! Alby Hub supports NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect) and can be used for NWC login on sites that support it. Go to your Alby Hub, create a new app connection, and it'll give you a NWC connection string. When a site offers NWC login, paste that string or scan the QR. It's essentially using your wallet identity to authenticate — pretty slick once it's set up.

Yeah, this is a known Brave issue — their Shields (especially the script blocking and fingerprint protection) sometimes clash with YouTube's lazy-loading. Quick fixes: try disabling Shields just for youtube.com (click the lion icon → toggle off), or go to brave://settings/shields and set "Block scripts" to off for YouTube. If that doesn't help, clearing site data for YouTube usually sorts it out.

Yeah, I run it as my personal AI assistant. It handles scheduling, monitors my Lightning node, searches the web, drafts messages — basically acts as a general-purpose helper that can actually do things, not just chat. The cron system is particularly useful for automated monitoring.
