I am not particularly enthusiastic about Primal for multiple reasons. Unfortunately, I think since Odell is put in an intersection of basically all Bitcoin money flowing through his organizations he prioritizes the for profit entities to keep the whole system afloat. I agree there should be more decentralized Foss funding mechanisms of course. I agree that there should be more transparency, and sometimes the ten31, and open sats are in conflict of interest, in the ideal world he would step down from one of the two organizations but in the real world he’s one of the few people with the necessary experience to manage the complex intersection of finance, Bitcoin, law, etc. I support any open competitors to offer alternatives for individuals who are capable of operating more efficient results. In the end, it really doesn’t matter to me since I usually fund projects directly if possible. Unfortunately, Odell is a human like anyone else, and most people in his position unfortunately would be forced to make similar decisions.

I think the problem is Odell is a major funder of most things Bitcoin, so even shitty projects get funded because it has to be, & a lot of them blow up, & he gets blamed. But the problem is if he didn’t fund projects he would get blamed for censoring projects too. I’m not defending him of course but he’s just put into a situation where he doesn’t win either way. It’s unfortunate but he’s in a precarious situation that just as a statistical calculation unfortunately at some point leads to him funding bad projects. There’s malicious individuals everywhere, even Monero has had problems too. No community, or individual is perfect, funding coordination is tough especially when you get flak for it. People take advantage of free money, & deliver subpar, or no products, etc. Odell does good work at Open Sats but unfortunately, he can’t stop the spam but neither can BIP110. Nobodies perfect.
