I am considering getting a zbolt Laser Excited Phosphorus or L.E.P. for my rifle. Unlike most lights for your rifle they say you can identify targets at 300 to 600 yards depending on optics. Which is so much farther than conventional tactical lights. The catch is it is about $260. I've always been a big proponent of lights when teaching. Any one attacking you is going to want as many things in there favor as possible. The cover of darkness, more people, attacking from behind, etc. Night site don't tell you who your shooting at. Illuminated optics often drown out targets in low light. Your option as things are now is passive nvg sighting, flir (cant tell who your shooting) or a weapon light. The l.e.p are intense enough if you shine them at some one with nvgs the nvg should shut down.
