A CATHOLIC HYPOTHETICAL Imagine your bishop telling the parishioners of the diocese that when coming forth to receive Communion, from now on they should play the Macarena song on kazoos while doing the Macarena dance all the way up to the altar, where they are to reach into a repurposed Pringles container to grab and consume their co Host, followed by taking a to-go sippy-cup that contains the Precious Blood. And what if the Vatican supported the bishop's decree? And what if the neighboring diocese was a full day's drive away? Would you accept your bishop's decision with obedience since he is the local guardian of Tradition? Would you accept Rome's ruling, even if it goes against your liturgical preferences? Would you go along with it and participate, with your children, since the Eucharist would still be validly co? Knowing we are to go to Mass each Sunday, would you be in mortal sin if you deliberately chose to stay home from this Mass -- a five-minute drive from your home? Everyone knows there are limits to authority, even for bishops, and we are not obliged to follow unjust laws. Disobedience in such cases does not make one a bad Catholic, but a good Catholic. If we follow the Church's clear Tradition, even if a priest or bishop does not, we are doing God's will. We are serving the Church, the Body of Christ.

Banning personal transactions that involve using open-source, community-written code is absurd. They have to get their hands into everything. I'm surprised governments haven't banned email providers so they can insist we all use government-issued email addresses -- and then charge us electronic "postage" for each message we send (all of which would have to be unencrypted, of course).
