I am becoming increasingly radicalized against gambling

I am also tired of the bitcoin platitude “fiat turns us all into gamblers”. While, yes, this is true, I’m not convinced it’s driving most people’s gambling. I know one guy who is betting on polymarket regularly that makes $300k+. He’s doing just fine and doesn’t need to be playing that game. But still, he does. I think it appeals to certain people’s ego in such a way that irresistible to them.

Without a doubt. But did you also see the one where Brian Armstrong made sure to mention a specific phrase in Coinbase earnings calls in order to get a certain bet to hit? Say I want a politician to do something. If I can start a specific bet and get people to wager on it, then push the odds to one side to increase the payout, what are the chances the politician eventually jumps in and makes it hit? So, so dirty.

Stuff like this really worries me. Gambling on every possible thing WILL change people’s behavior because they can make a wager, and then make it come true by taking action. There’s a 0% chance that those in power aren’t already abusing this.

It’s crazy to me that we can’t run specific software (or specific versions) on devices we “own”. Apple forcing their shitty new iOS version on me is really upsetting.

Growing up, my mom made every excuse possible for not having her financial and relational life in order. It was ALWAYS someone else’s fault why she was broke, divorced, and has no friends. When I became an adult, it was crystal clear to me that they were all just excuses to avoid working harder and/or turning from selfish behavior. Don’t be that person.

Just made a huge payment towards paying off our car. I don’t think you can say you’ve truly exited fiat if you’re still carrying debt. Big step in that direction for my family.

I really don’t think we need AI and robotics to live in a world of abundance that doesn’t require the amount of work we currently do. We literally just need hard money.
