Price dynamics aside, It’s difficult to stay positive about Bitcoin’s original ethos and its community these days. At least if you’re not a Saylor/BlackRock/MAGAtard-like Bitcoiner. Every sort of incentives here are badly misalignment and corrupted by the PTBs. Self-custody is under attack from all sides. In most legislations around the world, KYC is so pervasive and Orwellian that moving fiat via bank wires is likely more anonymous and stealthy than exchanging Bitcoin for fiat currencies, goods, or services. Decentralization is crumbling across nearly every dimension of the Bitcoin network (miners and mining pools, clients and developers, ownership and exchanges, Layer 2 solutions). Old-guard and "new" Bitcoin developers and evangelists are now mostly dead, bought, compromised, or simply batshit crazy. Despite all of the above, the technical beauty of the white paper, the philosophical value of Satoshi’s idea, the fascination with its incredibly complex history and ethos, and the marvel of the timechain technology remain unchanged to me. The righteous principles of a neutral, uncensorable, supply-capped, decentralized peer-to-peer network money are something still worth fighting for.
