At the first BitDevs Maputo Socratic Seminar, we’ll move beyond theory and get hands-on: running Bitcoin Core on our own laptops to discover, in practice, how Bitcoin’s consensus rules are verified and who has the power to influence the network. What Will We Explore? Bitcoin Core: Install, synchronize, and explore a full node that independently verifies Bitcoin’s consensus rules. Private and Public Keys: Understand how ownership of funds works and how keys are generated. Not your keys, not your coins — but where do those keys come from? Addresses and Transactions: Follow the process of creating, broadcasting, and validating a Bitcoin transaction. BIP32 and HD Wallets: Discover how a single seed can generate a hierarchy of keys and addresses. Why “Socratic”? There are no endless lectures or slides to sit through. The format is built around questions, investigation, and open discussion. We question, debate, and build understanding together. Running a node allows you to verify the rules.
