Indeed I agree with you, but people who read and are in such circles (independent of the style they usually read) tend to get in a toxic competence with others and they start comparing themselves with others that read X amount of books, as if that meant you have more real world knowledge or anything like that. I find this counterproductive for people that doesn't read and gets recommended for example a short, reel, tiktok, or YT video with the title of "I read 100 books a year, here's how", and they feel inspired just to find out they will never get to those numbers realistically, as everyone seems to be reading X books I n Y time like it's a race, and therefore they end up not reading again.

Wait when you discover the optimization of the things you already optimized to make better use of those things that were suboptimal in the first place. 🤪

Time isn't money. Money is time, in reality. A representation of value given to you (or one you are giving away), value that costed you and others their time leveraged by factors such as (education, strength, skills...) So don't waste that value on meaningless things that don't even bring you joy or, free the time for those things that you truly want to have more of, and even more importantly, save it on an asset that is finite and even deflationary as the time running out for each of us. IYKYK.

Don't fall for book over consumption, there is a trend for reading 100+ books just for the sake of it. Reading should be enjoyable, not everything must be productive.
