Great question and one that I’ve wrestled with a lot. Don’t have a perfect answer but I think in many ways the trend from the Old Testament to the New Testament moves in the direction of elevating the expectations for believers (I.e. Matthew 5:17-48 as an example). Whether it’s on the topic of non-violence, marriage, giving, etc. the NT seems to carry forward, but then in many ways radicalize (in a good, healthy way), the teachings of the OT. And these higher standards are only possible to live out (though imperfectly) through the empowerment of the Spirit. In that sense it seems to make sense that while the specifics of a tithe are not really carried forward explicitly in the NT, the general direction in a lot of these areas in towards a higher expectation, not a lower one. We don’t have a perfect system in our family, but I’ve always kind of thought of the tithe as a floor, but prayerfully my heart is eager to freely give much more than that

Couldn’t agree more. Love the Bitcoin emphasis on sovereignty. Seen so many who seek it in relation to money and property, but then it often bleeds over into every other sphere of life. It’s so freeing taking your life back into your own hands
