I’m fine with calling it a craft and not an art. It’s art meant for the plebs, who still consider realism a valuable expression. I’ve seen academic artists around me not even sell one piece, while I’ve had many inquiries. If art requires too much imagination, most “normal” people’ll just roll their eyes at it. Finally, still life pieces can tell a story through symbolism. While I haven’t done this in my current work, it’s something that can still add layers of story and imagination to realism imo.

Almost done with this oil painting of a pipe. It’s the first in a series of requisite paintings i’ve planned for the coming month.
